The group "Self-Advocates United as 1 (SAU1)" is a statewide group supporting the self-advocacy of people with disabilities for postive impact in our communities and in people's lives.
11 am - 12:30 pm - How to Advocate with Our Government
Do you want to make a difference in your life and for other people?
You can work for change when you advocate with our government
In this training, you will learn from people with disabilites:
- how to speak up
- how our government works
- how important voting is
You will be able to ask questions and have fun as you learn about how to advocate with our government
12:30 - 1:30 pm LUNCH
Attend both free morning and afternoon sessions and join us for a FREE LUNCH!
1:30 - 3:30pm - Go Voter!
Do you know...
- how important voting is?
- voting is your right?
- the new laws about identification and how to get it?
- what to do if you cannot go to the polls?
SAU1 guest trainers from the Disability Rights Network (DRN) will answer all these questions and any more you may have about voting.
When registering, ask about accommodations, alternate formats, (request 2-3 weeks before session) reimbursement (mileage, tolls, parking and childcare expenses may be covered) and credits (Act 48 - $10 processing fee).
